Erasmus MC Sophia Children's Hospital

Tuesday, February 21, 2023

The Netherlands | The Royal Talens Foundation is happy to support the Erasmus MC Sophia Children’s Hospital to bring some colour into the hospital’s waiting room!

During the COVID period, the polyclinics introduced the idea of giving coloured pencils to the children in the waiting room. After using them, they are allowed to take the pencils home. The colouring sheets are printed at the hospital. The children respond very enthusiastically to colouring. A hospital visit is quite scary for most children and this way they have a nice distraction. The hospital also appreciates that the children are developing their creativity, instead of watching films on a screen. The Royal Talens Foundation was happy to support this project and donated art materials: crayons, gel pens and sketch pads, all in nice and bright colours. We hope this brings the children much joy and excitement!

The Erasmus MC Sophia Children's Hospital, located in the Netherlands, provides care to children with rare and complex disorders. Around 6,000 children are admitted annually. The government and health insurers contribute significantly to financing treatments. But additional funds are needed for optimal patient support, research into causes of diseases and new treatment methods, education and recreation. The ‘Friends of Sophia’ Foundation is committed to this through fundraising.
