Making a difference in Gambia!
When Nieske, Marielle, Christa and her daughter Noa (11), heard that the Founder of an orphanage in Gambia was terminally ill, they agreed on one thing. They would not be able to cure Sia, but they could do something to support the 25 children in The Sinchu Orphanage. And so they did!
During 3 months they collected money and all kind of goods to be sent to Gambia and the result was amazing: 30 big boxes full of food, clothing and products for personal hygiene.
Of course they also wanted to meet the children personally and support them, so they booked a trip to Gambia. Both Marielle and Noa do a lot of painting and drawing so they decided to give the
children some workshops.
The work they put into preparing everything was heartwarming and encouraging. They printed portret pictures from all the children which they cut in half. They taught the children to draw themselves and to complete the picture.
"We wanted to teach them to look at themselves and to see how beautiful and perfect they actually are", explains Marielle.
I believe these 4 volunteers proved that in fact we can all make a difference if we want to!
