In March 2020 we donated pencils, felt tips and colouring books in support of the UK children’s charity Spread a Smile – www.spreadasmile.org
Its mission is to brighten the days of seriously and terminally ill children and teenagers in hospital.
Under normal circumstances, Spread a Smile would be delivering 35 monthly visits to 8 London hospitals, bringing fairies, magicians, face-painters, therapy dogs, singers and lots more to bring smiles to and enhance the wellbeing of seriously and terminally ill children and teenagers. As a result of COVID-19 they have had to suspend all visits and face-to-face contact with patients.
But we know that those smiles are now more important than ever. Young patients in hospital have become more isolated than ever before.
In response to the outbreak, they have created Smile TV providing children and teenagers access to special video content made exclusively for them, via their website. They can bring smiles at any time of the day.
They have also started sending art and boredom-busting packs and special treats to their hospital partners to distribute to young patients to keep them busy.
We are very proud to have supported Spread a Smile’s art packs and are so pleased to have been able to spread smiles at such a challenging time.
